George E. Lucia Sr. has over 50 years of “boots on the ground” professional experience in emergency services, and he has served as Fire Chief and Senior Emergency Services Leader in his community during this time. In the past, he has served as a Firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Training Instructor and Fire Marshal at both paid and volunteer fire departments.

He has been recognized as a pioneer in the area of Juvenile Fire Setting Intervention & Education, and he also founded the Bergen County Juvenile Fire Prevention Program. George served as a Firefighter for the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department in Bergen County, New Jersey, from 1969 to 1973.

George is known for his ability to innovate, and his leadership, knowledge and skills have been recognized through a variety of awards he has received, including “Firefighter of the Year” in Hillsdale, New Jersey (1984), New Jersey State Fire Protection’s “Man of the Year” (1984), Fire House Magazine’s “Heroism and Community Service Award” (1985), “Firefighter of the Year” Award from the Vista, California Fire Department (2004), The San Diego Burn Institute’s “Exceptional Service Award for Life Saving” (2005) and the Meritorious Service Award from CALFIRE for outstanding incident management during the 2007 Wildfires in San Diego County (Poomacha Fire).

During the years of 1973-2000, George served as Firefighter, Fire Marshal, OEM Coordinator, Police Officer, Code Compliance Official, Building Inspector, and Fire Chief for the Borough of Hillsdale in Bergen County, New Jersey. From 2000 to 2007, he served as Senior Fire Investigator-Inspector for the City of Vista, California Fire Department. He also served as Fire Chief for the Palomar Mountain, California Fire Department from 2005 through 2013.
